Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of the SHANKED app, shanked.club, and any physical SHANKED products. By using SHANKED you agree to them.
SHANKED is a game, not a gambling service
This is the important one. SHANKED is a social scorekeeping game for golfers. The "stakes" feature — dollar amounts, sips, or dares — is flavor text for keeping score among friends.
- We do not process, hold, transfer, or escrow wagers of any kind.
- We do not pay out prizes or winnings.
- Point totals have no monetary value and cannot be redeemed for anything.
- Any arrangement you make with your playing partners is entirely between you and them, and is your responsibility — including compliance with the laws where you play.
Who can use it
You must be at least 17 years old, or the age of majority where you live, whichever is higher. SHANKED references alcohol as optional flavor; if you use those options, drink responsibly and legally. Never drink and drive.
Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity under your account.
- Give us an email address you actually control — we use it for verification, resets, and restoring purchases.
- Don't impersonate others or use offensive display names in shared sessions.
- We may suspend accounts that abuse the service, attempt to circumvent payment, or disrupt other players.
Purchases
- Resident Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks hosting, profiles, the scorecard, season history, and pack scanning on your account.
- Starter Box is a physical product that includes the app unlock.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable tax.
- Refunds: contact us within 14 days and we'll make it right on digital purchases. Refunding a purchase revokes the associated unlock. Physical goods must be returned unused.
- Comp codes and promotional unlocks have no cash value and may be limited or expire.
Free and guest play
Joining a game as a guest is free and needs no account. Free features may change over time. We may impose reasonable limits to keep the service running for everyone.
Your content
Names, scores, and round data you enter stay yours. You give us permission to store and display them to the other players in your sessions, which is the whole point of the game. Don't upload anything unlawful or infringing.
Our content
The SHANKED name, logo, characters, artwork, and software are ours. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer, or make derivative products from them without written permission. Buying a Starter Box or Pro unlock gives you a personal licence to use the product, not ownership of the IP.
Availability
We work to keep SHANKED running but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change, and we may discontinue parts of the service. If we shut down a paid feature permanently and you bought it recently, contact us.
Disclaimers and liability
SHANKED is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the preceding twelve months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app. Continuing to use SHANKED means you accept the updated terms.
